How are duties calculated by Customs?

Created by Toni Cooke, Modified on Fri, 4 Apr at 5:57 PM by Toni Cooke

Packages valued in excess of USD100 may be subject to Customs Duty Charges. These charges may range between 41%-51% of the total value of your package +  2500 JMD (CAF) + GCT (15%).

A CAF charge is the Customs Administration Fee applied by the Jamaica Customs Agency for processing dutiable (valued in excess of USD100) packages.

Certain items (Computers, laptops or musical instruments) differ as these items are considered educational items, and may only be 17% customs + the $2500 CAF + 15% (GCT).
